Nowhereland Tattoo was founded in 2014 in Cairo, Egypt, by Orne Gil— a Venezuelan migrant who quickly became the first female tattoo artist in modern Egypt. She established “Nowhereland” as a powerful symbol of her search for belonging and a haven for revolutionary artists and Queers.

The studio became a hub for self-expression, fostering a vibrant community and even hosting the first Middle East Tattoo Convention in 2017.

Tragically, Orne's work was cut short when she was arrested by Egyptian authorities due to her sexual orientation. Yet, the spirit of Nowhereland endured. Orne found her way to Berlin, where — starting from scratch — she rebuilt the studio.

Today, Nowhereland Tattoo continues its legacy as a safe, inclusive space for tattooing and piercing, located at Wiener Str. 36in the heart of Berlin's vibrant Kreuzberg.

Our studio's aesthetic is heavily influenced by American & Japanese Traditional, Ornamental, Black & Grey, Fine Line, Graphic Queer Art and Graphic Street-Art inspired tattoo styles. Our team includes both resident artists and a rotating roster of guest tattooers and piercers from around the globe — representing Queers, underground, migrant, BIPOC, trans, and punk communities.
